Satanta, KANSAS—Southern Pioneer Electric Helping Us Give to Society (HUGS) representatives presented the Cimarron Valley Golf Association with a $1,000 check Monday towards renovations and improvements to the golf course.
The $1,000 will help update the course’s clubhouse, namely replacing carpeting. Installed by volunteers in 1996, the club house carpet is in a state of disrepair and the Association would like to replace it. The HUGS donation will be enough to cover the cost of materials, while the labor will be provided by volunteers again.
Scott McDonald, Board Secretary of the Golf Course, said “We were absolutely thrilled to hear that Pioneer Electric was able to help us with the carpet renovation for the Club House. The carpet was not new when it was installed in 1996 and was obviously in very poor condition. We are so grateful that Pioneer Electric is willing to help not only our golf course but has helped in many other projects in our community.”
The golf course provides a life time sport for many ages of people in the area, including youth golf programs and leagues for adults. The course is even used by the local school cross country team.
HUGS representative Dee Longoria said, “Being a golfer myself, I know the importance a local golf course can serve in a community, helping bring community members of all ages together at a location everyone can and should enjoy.”
