2019 Kicks Off With Three Donations

The Southern Pioneer Electric HUGS team started 2019 off in a big way, making donations in Liberal, Satanta and Sublette to kick off 2019.

In Liberal, the HUGS team donated $3,000 to the Junior Elite Softball (JES) for general use purposes. The JES, formed to provide a safe, positive learning environment for young ladies, had over 100 girls enrolled in the program in 2018.

In Satanta, HUGS members presented USD 507’s Pathways to Reading program with $3,158 for several hundred books. The Pathways to Reading program is to encourage reading and reading related skills for upper elementary and middle school students. The books will be age and skill appropriate for those age groups, something the program is striving towards.

Finally, in Sublette, the HUGS team donated $3,800 to the Sublette Rotary Club who is working on an American Legion project. The money will go towards bringing more life into the American Legion building by upgrading everything in the building, including the kitchen, bathrooms, big hall and club room.

“We are always so happy to be able to donate money to good causes,” said Southern Pioneer HUGS team member Dee Longoria. “This week we were able to donate to three different organizations focusing on our communities’ youth and veterans, so all around just a great experience.”
